JONATHON
ROBINSON | Director, Co-Screenwriter, Editor, Associate Producer
Jonathon
began his professional life booking an occasional role as an
actor while working in digital design and animation as a survival
job. He soon found himself an art director in a New York production
house creating motion graphics and designing live events, video
shoots, interactive media and print for Fortune 500 companies.
But after discovering corporate life wasn’t all it was cracked
up to be he set out to work as a freelancer and went back to
school to learn filmmaking. “Angel Food”, his first NYU student
film, became an I-Film.com Pick of the Week and has screened
at New York’s New Festival and Brooklyn Academy of Music.
In
early 2001 Jonathon released a music video for the band The
Laziest Men on Mars that became an overnight sensation. Nearly
two million people to date have visited his web site to view
“The Terrible Secret of Space,” and portals such as Memepool,
Plastic, Fark and Yahoo have designated it a genuine Internet
craze. It was profiled in Yahoo Internet Life Magazine, was
the most popular film on I-Film.com for two weeks, has spawned
fan sites, merchandising, and was featured on TechTV. Ariel
Kaminer of the New York Times Magazine called Jonathon’s work
on the piece “a sui generis art form,” whatever the heck that
means.
Jonathon
has written several plays including “Region of Shadows” based
on the work of Edgar Allan Poe and numerous sitcom spec scripts
& screenplays. Along with production partner Mark Flesher,
Jonathon was a top fifty director candidate for the 2003 season
of HBO’s Project Greenlight.
Jonathon
has appeared on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE and in the feature film
MEGAVILLE, starring Billy Zane.
He majored in Theater in the University of Southern California’s
BFA Program and has a Certificate in Film Production from New
York University.
